I can't lie.  I've always turned to BCBG for reliable but not extraordinary pieces.  BCBG is like my fall-back guy.  Always there for me when I can't find something more exciting.  But this time, Max Azria really turned up his game.  The collection kept BCBG's bobo youthfulness but had a new sense of high-end refinement and detail; note the dropped backs, treated fabrics and thoughtfully draped gowns.  Maybe this is his way of saying he wants to take it to the next level.

Just Like a Circus

Few people actually go to Charlotte Ronson for her clothes.  Much more appealing is the circus that is her friends, family and their friends.  And their friends of friends.  And so on.    Lezlo, Mark and Cory Kennedy sat in front of me while Saman did her DJ thing (rather well, much to my surprise).  Peaches Geldof and the rest of that crew were there as well.  Put all of them together and you would expect at least one decent cat fight, maybe even a little mace.  But sadly, my thirst for blood sports was not satisfied.  At least the show was better than usual.  My favorite model of the moment, Iekeliene Strange, opened and the collection had some high points.  I really enjoyed the leather gloves, blue plaid and chiffon dresses.  Sadly, when Charlotte fell she fell hard.

The Sweetest Thing

Yigal Azrouel is a fashion darling for more reasons than one.  His newest collection is true to his aesthetic— organic but trendy.  I especially love the chunky boyfriend sweaters and drop-waist trousers.  But most of all, I just love Yigal.

As I'm counting down the hours to my first NY Fashion Week show like a little kid on Christmas Eve, let me tease you with a few images from today's presentations.  Other than Peter Som, I'm not fond of these houses.  And, like most other people in the fashion community, I've been dreading the effect the economy will have on this season's collections.  But lo and behold, I was actually pretty impressed— good omen, perhaps?  I did get a kick out of Jenni Kayne's choice of shoe.  I just bought a pair myself: BCBG SS09.
